Dr. Mark Newcombe
Dr. Mark Newcombe grew up in the Dundas area and continues to make Dundas his home.
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario Dental School, Dr. Newcombe began his dental career in 1982 and was one of the founding dentists at the Mountain Mall Dental Office. Over the past 25 years, Dr. Newcombe has built a loyal patient base through technical ability and an open, caring attitude. In order to maintain his high professional standard, Dr. Newcombe continually seeks out conferences and lectures that will help in providing optimal dental care to his patients.
On a personal note, Dr. Newcombe is an accomplished glider pilot and a past instructor. He especially enjoys introducing the freedom of gliding to young enthusiasts. His passion outside of Dentistry is working with his hands through his many woodworking and carpentry projects. Dr. Newcombe and his wife are active supporters of their three children - each with their ever expanding academic, athletic and musical interests. With any remaining free time, Dr. Newcombe returns to his love of the outdoors, often hiking or sailing at the family cottage.
Dr. Eugene Maikawa
As one of the founding dentists at the Mountain Mall Dental Office, Dr. Eugene Maikawa has been providing high quality, gentle dental care for his patients for over 25 years. Born and raised in Hamilton, Dr. Maikawa graduated from Westdale High School. His educational background is firmly rooted in scientific research - having completed a Bachelor of Science degree (Biology) and a Masters of Science degree (Biology) from McMaster University. After graduating from the University of Toronto Dental School in 1982, Dr. Maikawa returned to Hamilton to practice Family Dentistry. He is an active member of the Canadian Dental Association and the Ontario Dental Association. Dr. Maikawa is a strong proponent of lifelong learning. He participates in many continuing education conferences and seminars to offer his patients the latest dental techniques and technologies available.
Now that his two children are grown, Dr. Maikawa and his wife enjoy traveling and golfing with friends. Early morning hockey practices and weekend dance recitals have been replaced by morning handball games at the "Y" and helping his children with weekend renovation projects.
Dr. Wilson Chen
Dr. Chen is dedicated to providing the best possible dental care to his patients. To this end, he expands his knowledge and skills through professional education courses, conferences and seminars. He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, and the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry.
Within the community, Dr. Chen has fostered his love of teaching through a number of different channels. Locally, he has organized and taught infant CPR and First Aid skills to new parents. He has also visited primary classes to teach children about their teeth and the importance of good oral hygiene. Presently, Dr. Chen volunteers for the All-Star Reading Program, an initiative in the public school system that helps children overcome the challenges of learning to read.
Dr. Chen keeps the office updated in the areas of First Aid and CPR training. As well, he has implemented an Emergency Medical Protocol, used by Mountain Mall Dental Office and adopted by other dental clinics. At home, Dr. Chen and his wife have fun keeping up with their two growing children. Carpools and playdates have now become part of their everyday life. They value their family time which includes skating, swimming and cycling.
